Visceral Manipulation: At optimal health, the relationship between the organs (viscera) and structures of the body (muscles, membranes, fascia and bones) remains stable, despite the body’s endless varieties of motion.
Unfortunately, when one organ can’t move in harmony with it’s surrounding viscera due to abnormal tone, adhesions or displacement, it works against all the body’s other organs and structures. This disharmony creates fixed, abnormal points of tension that the body is forced to move around.
That chronic irritation paves the way for disease and dysfunction. Visceral Manipulation is a gentle hands-on therapy that works through the body’s visceral system (the heart, liver, intestines and other internal organs), to alleviate abnormal tension or adhesions that affect the muscles, membranes, fasciae, bones and joints of the body. This helps restore normal, pain-free movement to the visceral and musculo-skeletal systems.
I have studied Jean Pierre Barral’s Visceral Manipulation courses up to Advanced 2 level and also served as a teaching assistant for many levels of his visceral manipulation courses, with the Upledger Institute in America, including those for the abdominal and thoracic organs and also the Practical Integrated Visceral Manipulation (PIVM) course. I also assisted and thought visceral manipulation therapy with Trinity Seminars in America.
